Yummy Choco "Fake Shake"

So I'm trying to lose 10 pounds and to be honest, it really sucks.  I don't normally overeat necessarily, but I definitely don't eat well.  A normal day's food intake might consist of a Coke around 10 AM, a yogurt for lunch followed by a candy bar or 2-3 cookies and another Coke, various snacks throughout the day to include granola bars, more cookies, or some chips.  Then I eat a normal dinner and have another Coke in the evening with something like nachos.  Just crap basically.  So while I'm not going vegan or anything, I am trying to make better choices.  But oh how I long for sweets!  I drive past Fiiz every day and my mouth starts to drool at the thought of an enormous sugar cookie.  Or I go to the grocery store to buy fruit and want nothing more than to place one of each and every candy bar at the check stand in my basket.  

Today's breakfast is a pretty good compromise of sweet and delicious with a not-so-bad calorie count.  It's been compared to a Wendy's frosty and I'd have to agree.  It really is yummy!  I found it on Pinterest from Meals and Moves.  She added a whole bunch of other healthy stuff like protein powder and whatnot.  I just use real stuff that I have at home.  Also changed the amounts a bit.

The ingredients are:
  • 2/3 cup of milk (mine was 2%)
  • 2/3 of a frozen banana
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder 
  • 8 to 12 ice cubes.  
That's it.  The secret is the frozen banana.  It makes it so creamy!

Start with your liquids first, especially if you have a crappy secondhand blender that can't handle too much actual blending.  Drop in your bananas.  I like to peel them when I get home from the store and break them into 1-inch pieces.  Again...helping the blender out here.  I used five pieces, which is about 2/3 of a whole banana.  Next comes the cocoa powder.  I did teaspoons, but ended up adding three anyway, which totals a tablespoon.  You could add less if you want it less chocolately. 

Add the ice.  I did eight ice cubes and it was a little bit runnier than I normally like.  I probably should have gone with the full dozen.

Blend away my friends, blend away...

Looks good right?  Mmm hmm!  Using these amounts gives you a 2-cup serving size, which is about the equivalent of a medium Wendy's Frosty.  Their calorie count is 460 and this little beauty is only 205!  Perfect for yourself, or if you're like me, enough to share a bit with your little miss.
